How to ask for the fade you want

Low, mid, high, skin or taper? The words that get you the fade in your head, not the one in ours.

Most bad fades are a misunderstanding, not a mistake. Here are the words that help.

Where it starts

  • Low: the fade starts just above the ear and stays low at the back.
  • Mid: it starts around the temple. The most asked for, and the safest.
  • High: it starts near the top of the head. Sharp, and it grows out fast.

How short it goes

  • Skin: down to the skin with a foil shaver at the bottom.
  • Taper: the length shortens gradually but never to skin. Office-friendly.

Bring a photo

One photo beats ten words. Two photos, one you like and one you don’t, are even better.

Prices, barbers, hours and walk-ins

Hey, this is the front desk. Ask about prices, which barber does what, opening hours or walk-ins.
